Point-Virgule – LEED Platinum
La Point-Virgule is a unique project located in Orford, entirely designed and built by UrbanÉco, and currently in the process of obtaining LEED Patinum certification.
The home was designed for a retired couple seeking a comfortable day-to-day living environment while still being able to welcome their two sons during visits. The interior layout therefore focuses on adaptability and space optimization : home offices can be converted into guest bedrooms thanks to Murphy beds, while the living room can be reconfigured either to take in the surrounding landscape in front of the wood-burning stove or to host movie nights. In addition, all storage in the house was custom-designed, eliminating any wasted space. In total, the house includes three bedrooms, an open-concept main floor, a multifunctional room on the second floor, one powder room, and one full bathroom.
La Point-Virgule also stands out for its holistic approach to energy efficiency and quality of life. Its passive solar design maximizes solar gains in winter while limiting overheating in summer. Interior finishes are VOC free, and a heat-recovery ventilation system installed with rigid ductwork ensures optimal indoor air quality. Meanwhile, WaterSense-certified plumbing fixtures help reduce water consumption.
And that’s not all ! Working in close collaboration with the clients, UrbanÉco produced a web series documenting the key-turn construction process, highlighting project collaborators and the various stages of development.
